Red Dead Redemption and RDR2 are packed with missions that go beyond gameplay—they hit emotionally, tactically, and sometimes philosophically. Whether it’s the chaos of The Assault on Fort Mercer, the heartbreak of Our Best Selves, or the surreal calm of A Quiet Time, every player has that one mission they never forget.
So let’s hear it:
- What’s your favorite mission?
- Was it the story, the setting, the survival logic, or something personal?
- Did it change how you play—or how you see the game?
Drop your pick below and tell us why it matters. Bonus points if you’ve replayed it just to feel that moment again.

The dashes and bullet points always give it away.
I hate this so much because I love em dashes and have been using them forever.
Just don’t overdo it. I’m not a native speaker and I don’t know if OP’s post is generated, but the dash in the third bullet point really serves no purpose. The first dash could be replaced with a more appropriate colon.
Maybe you’ve been a bit this whole time.
Begone
thotbotIt’s been too long since I played the first game, but in 2, you try to go straight and live the simple farm life and it’s such a boring part of the game. Typically that’s a bad thing, but I loved how it simulated that itch for chaos. As a player, you’re thinking the same thing as the character. “Not long ago, I was riding around shooting people and making tons of money, and now I’m shoveling shit for pennies a day.” When the mission comes to go back to your roots and raise some hell, you know you shouldn’t, but damn does it feel good to get back to doing what you love.
The entire game is my favourite mission for both RDR1 and RDR2.
I played it again so I could cry again.
Can I get money instead of points?
In the first game: John’s last stand. The first time I felt a game ever said to me: “You did everything right, but it’s still not going to go your way.”
In the second game: the cough in the beginning. I had done a report on the mythos of the wild West while in highschool and knew exactly what was happening when it did.
First game, the missions as you’re getting to know Bonnie and helping her out around her ranch. It just felt like so many old Western movies and country songs. I wanted them to find a way to be together. :(
