Oh shucks, this is kinda sweet!!!
(THANK YOU!!!)
That girl who plays Steam Deck and writes about gaming + Linux a lot
Oh shucks, this is kinda sweet!!!
(THANK YOU!!!)
I’m a sucker for OLED screen
R.E. the OLED, you can write me on Matrix if you’re there (or join the Revolt server!) and I can help you with a pointer for it!!!
I know Lazorne is on here, so I have no doubt this comment will make them smile!!!
Well, you’ve got a lot of options!
Since getting my Steam Deck, I sold my Switch collection, since (for the most part), emulating Switch games are a breeze. Theres obviously ones which perform poorly, but the vast, vast majority run so well!
You can always get the original launch model of Switch - you can jailbreak it with a little ‘jig’ and its the easiest thing in the world. No mod chip required. There’s even tablet-only ones, even OLEDs on aliexp if you want to have someone do they hard work for you, too!
The Steam Deck is incredibly hard to beat - Steam games, GOG, Epic and Amazon games. Emulation. Its a lot of gaming :)
(And as to frequency posting these? Lately, every 3 or 4 days!!!)
Hmmm that’s pretty specific!
I’d look at:
Cara Ellison. She’s touched on it before, that I’ve noticed when writing for The Guardian - how strong videogames are for the medium of telling stories, and also for expressing art.
Matthewmatosis on YouTube, does some great work on at least the artistic choices teams make when creating the games
Critical Distance is a good site, critiquing games as a serious art form
I mean…this is in my eyes, and in my experience reading them. The thing about art is though…it’s so damned subjective, so what I found related to that point, you might find is totally, totally off-the-mark!
Hope it helps, a little though! <3
I’ve seen the same.
And I can’t claim any ownership of this, this is purely Gardiner’s server! I just…happen to know a lot of the devs and creators in the space, and I’m slowly inviting them in because - well I guess a place like this, more focused and small where we can chat about what we love: developing for Linux, and gaming on Linux might be a nice thing!
I’d just encourage you to make a throwaway account (if you’re so inclined!) and ask in the server yourself! No one can answer better than Gardiner can :)
This is literally like…idk 2 hours old at this point. No ‘big’ posts have been made, just me prodding the odd folk (like here) to join in and see if they like it :)
I only access it via their website!
Yeah, sadly I agree.
I jumped on there six weeks or so ago (before I re-joined here on Lemmy) and was taken by the lovely UI, and it does…work. But there’s some gaps like this. Still, it can be better than the alternative, which is always something to encourage.
But, I totally agree.
Hey, this is so sweet of you to say!
Nope, no selling here. Ironically I had a couple of legit job offers for this kind of thing when I was writing these on Reddit last year (before leaving it). So…in some odd alternate universe, I might have been doing just that selling!
For now, I’m very fediverse-addicted. No selling here. I’m glad you enjoyed the few things I found interesting myself! :)
I do!
I’ll be back home in a couple of hours, and I’ll come back to this comment to edit :)
Well this is just damned sweet of you!
Glad my rambling nonsense has helped! :)
There’s zero percent chance of this.
Sadly, of course, coz I’m the world’s #1 GOG fangirl, but…I mean Remedy asked every publisher if they wanted to be involved. None did.
Alan Wake 2 just would not have happened without Epic. They fronted the money: Epic is the reason it exists at all!
Okay! I installed:
…and a couple others. I just mitigated how sim-ish it is, I understand that’s how the game was designed, but I’d prefer to make my own kind of ‘easy mode’, and that’s what it boiled down to for me! :)
The original (and Erdtree) work perfectly fine when pirated. Theres obviously no online element, but with mods…its still technically doable
Glad you enjoy them!!!
Here are the links to the previous few news posts I wrote up:
The last ‘week’ (part 3) is here
The one before that (part 2), is here with this link
And the very first (part 1) - which is not formatted and rather rough!!!
(and thank you, SO much for saying so!)
You’re very kind!
This one is the mixiest of mixed bags of news-y things I found. Literally no theming this week!
Its far less than it used to be.
Check 1337 and you’ll see the quality of uploads is generally the exact same literal thing as you’d find on a streaming service, or disk.
I fucking loathe DRM. loathe it!
Oh thank you so much!
Its a lot of fun to me. This one (ironically) I feel like I did the bare minimum.
I’ve been nursing a sore shoulder all week which put my work (red team - penetration tester) and fun (gaming / any typing) into the category of ‘I’d better do as little of it as possible to rest the arm’
So…its really nice to hear that even this - where I stopped myself writing 19719161 words instead of 6 - is a nice read for some!
Thank you!
You got it! It’s a GOG-specific bug, which again compounds the feeling that GOG users tend to end up second-best :(
