But why? Isn’t it a gamer focused distribution? Are we really wanting to play games in WSL?

CachyOS isn’t specifically gamer focused, its performance focused. That’s why not everything is focused on gaming like Bazzite is. Off course performance is beneficial for gaming. They have some additional gaming specific optimizations you can enable or add, but the entire operating system is not focused for gaming only as their primary focus. If you want gaming on CachyOS, then have a look at https://wiki.cachyos.org/configuration/gaming/ .

It’s gamer focused, but still pretty open, it’s arch based so lots of options.

On scale between bazzaite , Nobaru, and catchyos, it’s the most open imo while still offering a near seamless transition for a windows user.

How are bazzite or nobara not open?

They clearly meant that Bazzite has an immutable read-only system. Though this can be mostly worked around by installing everything in /home without sudo.

I tried to play Minecraft under WSL2. Nice 2FPS per second probably because of GPU.

The link you shared is for Ubuntu. Larger repositories?

The link is benchmarks for the amd64v3 micro-architecture, not specific to Ubuntu. CachyOS repositories also have a bunch of packages that you would otherwise use the AUR for on Arch. An example: https://packages.cachyos.org/package/cachyos/x86_64/euro-office-bin

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word “Linux” in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
