120 Video Games Meetup inspired by Fallout Meetup Annual Fan Celebration:
40 Weeks Each week brings together 3 gaming communities, but all meetups will be offered something unique at this location, and all for a great cause.
39 Video Game Host Positions Available If you’re passionate about games and would be interested to be a host of a video game meetup in the series of bringing together different gaming communities, submit the three games you’d like, but not all games will be approved.
I’ll be the host of the NES Super Dodgeball meetup also taking inspiration from Crash ‘n’ the Boys: Street Challenge and Half-Life, with potential event title Half-Life ‘n’ the Boys: Dodgeball Exhibit, featuring:
an e-sports division, irl recreational and competitive divisions, potential world record breaking event with a goal of over 6,000 dodgeball players depending on location, and a competitive video series with the top players selected to represent each country inspired by Extreme Dodgeball from Game Show Network, in a style similar to the NES Super Dodgeball video game, with a modified version of the rules, and with an 8.5 inch rubber ball, which is how many of us in the Memphis area began playing in 2001.
One team per country for the competitive series, so we’re also looking for:
1 NES Super Dodgeball Representative Per Country Positions Available Submit your name and country if you’re interested to be considered as a representative, and you can be involved in the decision making process of the new nonprofit organization, as well as be the one to select the top players to represent your country! This might work best as a biannual event, but we can have a similar annual event with one team per city for teams with large population.
Dodgeball Practices: Each of the video game meetup groups will also get the chance to play dodgeball there, as I’ll host weekly recreational games for people who just want to play for fun, and competitive games for people who want to practice to prepare for the annual NES Super Dodgeball style world event.
I first began playing dodgeball for fun after school because some friends were inspired by the NES Super Dodgeball game to host weekly games at a tennis court next to our former high school, then I was selected to represent my country in this sport 12 years later in a version more similar to the popular comedy film, and I gained experience with the sport across 7 countries. On Friday the 13th, January 2023, I was injured at work and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to play or train players as well as I wanted to be able to, but I’ll still do what I can for those interested in training sessions.
Dates / Location: We’ll discuss potential dates together with the 40 game hosts, but Italy has a lot of potential locations which would work well for the dodgeball world record attempts.
For a good cause A place for Ukrainian refugees to live, learn, work, and play: Even if 120 gaming communities only average a few hundred people total from the 3 gaming communities they choose, that would still be enough to create a permanent location for the dodgeball world record attempts and more, but creating a US location is also a possibility for expansion and adding a US division of a video series inspired by Extreme Dodgeball with teams named after cities, but with a modified version of the rules. We can invite Ukrainian refugees to cook Ukrainian foods for the guests as another way to try to support Ukrainians. I have the domain address and email but the website isn’t ready yet.
A smaller version of the plan is ready in case we don’t reach the big goals at the start. I’ll try to post another update soon if we begin to gain interest.
