I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Windows, is in fact, Firefox/Windows, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, Firefox plus Windows. Windows is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another component of a fully functioning Firefox system made useful by the Firefox browser, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS.

Many computer users run a modified version of the Firefox system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Firefox which is widely used today is often called Windows, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Firefox system, developed by Mozilla.

There really is a Windows, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Windows is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Windows is normally used in combination with the Firefox operating system: the whole system is basically Firefox with Windows added, or Firefox/Windows. All the so-called Windows distributions are really distributions of Firefox/Windows!

I don’t know for the AUR, but the regular repos seem to be already accessible. You can try them with pacman, but the installed packages will be deleted at the moment of the update, or you can create a custom image and add the wanted packages which will be reinstalled at every update.

It’s half baked: like the post says, it’s the first testing version. It will be developed more, like a member of the team said:

Our plan is definitely for it to become an official variant of Manjaro. With the community testing version we’re now gathering some feedback on what people expect from such a variant and what should still go in there or what could be slimmed down.

It’s clearly not ready.

I always thought that mini computer.were more power hungry than SBC. Am I wrong?

I doubt it’d work with LibO Calc, but I’ll try.

For example : I write in French. It wasn’t easy for me to have a way to type É or Ç. Tmux wasn’t easy to configure. It took time to understand how to use USB drives. And now I didn’t use it for some time, and I’d have everything to learn again if I had to turn it on.

I’m no computer scientist. All these things may be trivial for someone who works with computers, but it’s not my case 😅.

I’ve done that on my potato, I installed Debian without a DE. It’s great, but I needed an insane amout of time to make it actually usable.

They made errors with certificates twice. Apparently, that a cardinal sin for some Linux users.

But if you like Manjaro, use it. It’s not perfect, but it’s a great distro.
