Well you already have Linux on your TV. Unfortunately it’s android which is capitalist crap. They’ll no doubt make it extremely difficult to remove their malware. Even if you could overwrite, you would still be using the shitty computer inside your TV.
Like other people have said, I think the best solution is using an external machine. I use an older laptop running Kodi for my TV. It’s pretty awesome. Just make sure your machine has the specs for your needs. It shouldn’t be hard to find something more powerful than the TV.

Never had a flawless experience with NVIDIA. Hopefully their grift dies and gets replaced with RISC-V or similar open source…

That’s what proprietary tech is. I definitely wouldn’t blame open source projects for the widespread abuse/failure of technology under capitalism.

Yeah it’s amazing how people can be so uncritical of their own control. If your control is undermined by stastitics, then maybe statistics isn’t the problem.
The more fundamental problem is that the capitalist indoctrination system has never been ok. Schools have never been about diversity, critical thinking, and education but rather conformity, privilege, and indoctrination. The system of grading and filtering students based on tests, essays, etc. is counter to the purported goal of education. Schools are just just pre-prisons for kids while parents waste their lives serving capital.
TBH “AI” is going to create more jobs for devs. I tried using “AI” once for coding. It took me more time to debug the code than to google an alternative solution. It might be good for boilerplates, summarizing stack exchange, etc. But in reality you can’t code anything original or worthwhile with statistics.
The real question isn’t in AI training methods but in who controls its outputs.

2·4 months agoKinda bad/traumatizing that this led me to a gore server in the top recommendations for Peertube.
In debian/ubuntu I just use the file browser and connect via sftp or whatever. I save the password and put the location in my sidebar for easy access. It works great for playing videos and other uses, although might want to setup jellyfin or similar for videos.
