Haha, plot twist! That doesn’t sound very useful.
How quickly did it burn disk space? I occasionally have to resize my Lemmy VM for the Postgres database, but I’m still on the free tier for object storage after like 1.5 years of running this. I would imagine a photo sharing site would crunch through disk a lot quicker though.
Ah, missed that. Okay, if the GPU clock is stepped up that much on power then maybe it will be alright!
It ought to have been, considering how much games struggle on the first switch lately. This will have the same problem otherwise, 2-3 years into its lifecycle it will be begging for death while the PS5/XSX are still chugging along.
I wonder if they’ve fallen into the same trap with not making the console powerful enough. The first switch was also not that powerful when it came out, and it’s really struggled in the end of its lifecycle. A lot of first party releases in the last couple years run like complete shit. They probably missed an opportunity here to stash an eGPU in the dock to provide a more modern experience while playing on the big screen.
Running x86 games under Rosetta on Apple Silicon has been super playable for me, both Intel Mac binaries and Windows games under WINE. So I don’t see why it wouldn’t be possible on Linux or Windows, assuming they spend enough time and care writing the translation layer.
Yea what the hell, why us?
You can run UWP executables! If you publish to the MS store, distribution on Xbox is automatic unless you opt-out. But you’re right that you can’t run an arbitrary exe.
I mean, the current Xbox is already hiding Windows under the hood. Always has, hence the original project name „DirectX Box“ ;)
Thanks, that’s an interesting overview. I guess it might be worth checking it out, but like you say, I like the simplicity of Lightroom CC and 85% of the time you only want 5% of the tools, auto correct and basic histogram adjustments.
Anyone using this as their main program over Lightroom or Luminar? Would be interested to hear a pros and cons take
I guess summarizing notifications is mildly useful. Other than that, it seems like they’re just embracing the current zeitgeist (or really, meme). I can’t believe the whole industry has become so head-over-heels enamored with LLMs. What a waste of talent, time and energy for so many people.
Console manufacturers will have to adapt and liberalize self-publishing to stay relevant. AAA gaming continues to enshittify, and indie games / smaller studios are the ones releasing the good titles.
Valve knows this, and the ease for developers to release on Steam means they’re well positioned to ride out the transition. By comparison, releasing on console means signing license agreements, getting access to proprietary SDKs, submitting your game through an approval process, getting each update reviewed, etc etc. The barriers make releasing on console very unappealing for smaller developers.
So IMO if the consoles want to ride out the decline of AAA games, they will need to reinvent their image and how they interact with smaller studios and indies.
Okay, but I mean, 60 million versus 30 thousand. The former is effectively “infinite”, I mean how many hours would it take you to walk that far?
That’s a really interesting point. Neat!
That’s better than I was thinking. But still, nothing beats “infinite”.
Did they ever fix the game having a maximum map size of like 10.000 by 10.000? That limitation always seemed to put it at a disadvantage compared to Minecraft, for larger communities
What are they exhibiting? Lawsuits?
Yes you can run windows games fairly easily on Mac and Linux these days but it’s never quite as good as a native build.
Well… I thought it was relevant and humorous, and the rules don’t say the submissions have to be news. I might be stretching the definition of “discussions” but, figured it was worth a try :-)
