Linux@lemmy.ml•Wayland Found To Be "Intrinsically Faster Than X11, But Not Necessarily More Efficient"
22·1 month agoThis is stupid and probably ignorant too, but I couldn’t get RDP dynamic window resizing to work on Wayland no matter what I tried and went back to gnome which works great.

Linux@lemmy.ml•I'm planning to build a Linux gaming PC. Any suggestions?
4·2 months agoI’m not enough of an expert to provide advice, but I can share what works well for me. I have tried games released across a 30 year span from multiple publishers using multiple types of engines using multiple launchers. I’ve had no issues with 240 Hz, an ultra wide display, or HDR. The one problem I’ve had is that the sound card doesn’t wake up properly after a long period of sleep, and so I double click an icon to wake it up. When I do, the Dolby digital 5.1 surround sound works perfectly.

1·2 months agoI wonder if this supports dynamic resizing. This has been one reason I’ve been unable to do Wayland on regular RDP.
Since I haven’t seen these mentioned yet:
Clipcascade (clipboard sharing across multiple OSes, handy when “copy from this VM and paste to that VM gets funky with the intermediary rdp client)
Infisical (self hosted secrets management, used for n8n automation pulls so I’m not storing credentials and api keys on a VPS)
Plus a Debian 13 VM for Claude+Hermes and a Fedora workstation VM to pretend I have a central workstation somewhere.

118·4 months agoSo… three quick points as my coffee is waiting…
First one is congratulations and well done for an adult resolution to a problem. I don’t wanna get political, but I’ll just say we could use to see a lot more of this in our daily lives. In many areas. Especially important ones.
Secondly, the game looks cool as hell. I’m not sure if it’s my genre or not, but I might check it out anyway it’s compelling and it really draws you in from a curiosity perspective.
Thirdly, and I’m sure it’s just an oversight, but the description still lists your game name on his page.
Looks cool… but as an Obsidian user, i’m uncertain as to the depth of the differentiators. Open source sure, but obsidian has served me well and is lightning fast to open even with all core plug-ins enabled plus several community plug-ins. Nearly all of which are optional anyway.
Obsidian also has quite a moat in terms of third-party functionality enhancements with very feature rich examples like Xcalidraw.
They also offer an end to end encrypted synchronization service that works better than file based synchronization services like iCloud, and a publish service that also works well.
No casting of aspersions, but as a former fortune 500 decision-maker for enterprise software in the millions, I have a tendency to critically think about why X vs Y for my personal stack as well. Counterpoints welcome!

They could get $3B for all I care, I’ll never use it.
