I have no idea what almost any of that means but I assume professional graphics designers will. And go gimp! I still struggle with understanding how to do things whenever I need to do something new but I absolutely and exclusively use gimp for image editing. I am forever grateful for such a great tool.

Matrix is a mature chat client for secure communications, and more than that. But it is not aimed at gamers, it is not necessarily (as) trivial to use, and streaming gamers are definitely not the target group. So yeah, it’s not an alternative for a lot of what users seek from Discord, but it’s still a really good tool.

Complaining that matrix doesn’t have X & Y features of Discord is like complaining that you can’t use a Hammer to bake a cake. It’s designed for a different job :)

Sorry but by the article linked above, he whatabouts rape of teenagers with “but they were not children”. He may have done a lot of good for free software, but this is not a single poorly worded comment - these kinds of statements can be found by the dozen. And that means he is mentally unwell / mentally damaged to consider them acceptable.
