I wouldn’t touch Facebook with a 10’ ethernet cable. Haven’t heard of kjiji, I’ll have to check it out.

“Nah man you just need a little more AI bullshit crammed into all your apps.” -Microsoft, probably
If you try the ammo can idea make sure you poke a hole in it otherwise you run the risk of it becoming a bit of a pressure vessel.
Absolutely. I’ve only done it once or twice, just long enough to get the one low cell voltage high enough to switch back to lipo mode. Also, all the lipo charging I do is inside of a steel ammo can. My drone buddy teases me about it but I don’t care, big and/or lipo batteries are fucking scary.
There’s a trick I learned for drone lipo batteries where if you have low cell voltage, you can set your charger up to charge a different battery chemistry, I think NiMH but don’t quote me on that, charge it for a little bit and then switch it back to lipo mode. No idea if it would work here.
Ubuntu 24.04, as far as I know I have all the right Proton stuff installed and the latest Nvidia drivers.
Huh. I’m on Ubuntu 24.04 with a 2080 Ti 🤔
I spent a couple hours trying to get Baldur’s Gate 3 running on Linux. It was rough but I got it to run at 1440 but the latency made it sort of unplayable. It runs great in Windows 10 at 4k with the default settings. I have some other windows-only software so I guess I’m going to “upgrade” all my computers that are able to do so but I don’t feel good about it. All my computers dual boot windows/linux, I would love to be linux-only.
Edit: lots of people are saying theirs runs smoothly, I’m going to have to do further testing. Thanks for the input!
I have ~10k hours in counterstrike
Damn. There’s 8760 hours in a year btw. That’s impressive.
That actually helps a lot, thanks!
I appreciate the extra details but I still don’t know what “caddy”, “VPS”, “tailscale tunnel”, or “zero days” are, but I can look it up.
Can someone ELI5? I’m a noob who aspires to set up immich in the near future. I only recently started making efforts to separate myself from the cloud. So far I’ve got a wireguard server set up and I’ve disconnected both my Bambu printers from the cloud and I’m currently setting up some home assistant stuff. Pretty soon I’m hoping to set up a NAS, Immich, Plex (or similar) and replace my google nest cameras.
Linux ban on discussing Facebook.
Hey OP, I’m just starting my self-hosting journey as well. I can program a little bit in Python and C++ but I haven’t needed any of that so far. As others have said, some familiarity with Linux would be very helpful. The things I’ve done so far:
Eventually I plan to set up a NAS with Immich and some local IP cameras and Plex or something similar.
Maybe I could do this for my Switch 🤔
I voluntarily subject myself to his rants on youtube. That server is very close to what I’m looking for. Something that can do 10 gbps would be ideal. Just today I came across this. Seems pretty good but going to keep looking.
They seem nice but the ones that can do SFP+ start at around $600
Saving this for later. Just got my Pi 5 NAS running last night and started playing around with Jellyfin.
