Why do people still play this game??
Oh, I am well aware of C++. But I assure you that they were not referencing that when selling this goofy shit to consumers in the early 90s. I think it’s just a really bad logo.
Unrelated, but anyone remember “VCR+”? Man I’m old…
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_recorder_scheduling_code
Edit: I guess it was actually “VCR Plus+” which is dumb af (it’s not a C++ reference. I assure you that the marketing people at the time had no idea what that was. I’m 99% it was just a bad logo that has “plus” and a ‘+’).
I’ve been running it on my laptop for months and it’s been a fantastic experience
I said “if they’re correct.”
I don’t fucking know what law.
Well I was referring more to things like Monero, not NFTs…
I guess it might vary depending on how much we’re talking… If they’re correct that credit card companies are requried by law and banks are not, then I can imagine a bank deciding to refuse to refund a purchase if they feel as if it’s too much money. At which point, it becomes much more of a hassle (lawyers getting involved, etc.) to get the money back.
Don’t most debit cards (the ones that have the “Visa” logo) get processed as credit cards online anyway? Unless you’re entering your pin number (which, I would highly advise against ever doing on the internet), then it is processed as a Visa purchase.
Or is that only at the point of sale?
Not necessarily. As another user noted, zero-knowledge proofs might be able to be used to anonymously age-verify people, if done correctly.
Zero Knowledge proofs are so fucking cool.
Say what you will about crypto in general, but the math behind some of the stuff is just so elegant.
I own original hardware and buy 100% of my games but sometimes you just wanna run games that aren’t originally crossplatform on your Steamdeck for convenience, or on a PC with resolution upscaling, or for ease of streaming the gameplay, or tons of other legitimate reasons.
Can’t wait until our courts decide that, due to the prevalence of “remasters” that are just upscaled ROMs running on emulators, that this is no longer considered “fair use.”
I literally had the opposite experience lol. Just got NewPipe and it seems to work fine.
Suck shit, Google.
As someone who’s (re) vanced stopped working today, one thing about using my browser instead was the inability to switch to a different app or lock my screen without pausing.
I fucking hate that shit. Made solely so they could sell it as a “bonus feature” for subscribing to their pay service.
Dwarf Fortress is quite the rabbit hole. It’s so much more than just a game. The complexity of the simulation has actually made me wonder about simulation theory IRL.
It’s mind blowing.
And this makes you tired…?
Sales of physical copies of games is where consoles truly shine. It’s not as great as a few years ago (getting surplus steelbook games for like $10 sometimes), but you can still regularly pick up AAA games that are a handful of months old for $20 or sometimes less.
Check sites like dekudeals and psprices (steamDB is great too for making sure you’re not being over charged on Steam).
It’s just being a savvy consumer.
But yeah, when it comes to Nintendo hardware, the only reason to have it imo is the first party games, and those will never go on sale so you might as well just pony up. You can do the voucher thing and save $10 on each if you get two games (dunno if that’s still a thing).
Ah, bummer… Can’t you just log in using X11 instead of Wayland for the session when you want to play? Assuming it’s a Wayland issue…
For some reason I’ve been having issues too, but I started adding this to my launch options in the game properties in Steam and it seems to work for several games. Dunno if this is the same issue as you though, but maybe worth a shot:
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
Also use Wayland.
Do it
