Phone makers make no money if you don’t buy new phones
Maybe they should make a new phone thats desirable then. I’m still running on a phone from 2016 because there’s no modern one that wouldn’t lose me functionality that I use all the time. Anything I buy would be a downgrade.
I was literally going to set that up this week… Damn it.
Currently using Nextcloud to sync it but it’s shit.
IDK, my housemates printer required literally 0 setup to work with my linux VM and I’ve never had an issue. When I print from windows it’s a pain in the butt sometimes.
There is demand though, it’s just not as high. They could make a smaller number of them just to capture the people who want it. Same goes for all the other features that are hard to find on a phone anymore. I think a lot of people are confusing “lack of demand” for “the features they want aren’t available so they just buy whatever the corporations are jamming down their throat when they need a new phone”. I for one haven’t purchased a new phone since 2016 because there’s no option that has more features than my current one. If it were to break I would be forced to buy a new shittier phone that can’t do everything I want.
I don’t understand the obsession with thinness. My phone has a case on it and already is like 2x as thick as a current phone and it’s fine. If anything it makes it easier to hold on to and type on. While I don’t care about having a physical keyboard, there’s a lot of other stuff they could do if they didn’t care so much about making it as thin as possible.
Mine has an ex from a decade ago at the top of the list. I haven’t communicated with that woman in years.
I use WSL for cli stuff and I have Mint running in a VM for desktop stuff. I briefly tried dual booting but it was a pain in the ass and I ended up rarely switching to the Linux partition in practice.
Civilization exists because of strong people keeping week people in line. It has nothing to do with morality. It put Donald Trump in the white house FFS. Watch what people do when they think no one is paying attention and won’t face any consequences and they show their true colors.
I’m an excellent judge of character. I just had to learn to stop giving people the benefit of the doubt. No one has gotten anything past me in years and I’ve had countless moments of telling others “I told you so” when someone I warned them about fucks them over.

Buying stolen property isn’t innocent and can take the matter up with the person that sold it to them.
You should expect it. A huge % of people are shitbags just waiting for their chance. I’ve found and returned 3 wallets in my life and every time when I mentioned it to someone else they were in total disbelief that I didn’t just steal the person’s money and calling me an idiot for it. These were people I would have thought were trustworthy otherwise.
I asked, through the person who hired the workers, if they took it. But all the workers refused.

Personally I don’t think these people should be having private conversations with minors at all. It’s fucking weird and stupid and just leaves them open to this kind of allegations.
Everyone knows the line for inappropriate behavior is criminal charges being filed.

I’m still rocking an LG V20. Haven’t seen anything since I got it that interests me enough to switch. The fact that I’d lose so much functionality is a big reason for that. Thankfully it’s really tough and the battery is trivial to replace. I imagine the days are numbered before apps stop supporting it but until that becomes a problem I don’t see myself replacing it. It’s sad really. I was so optimistic for the future possibilities of what smart phones could do when I got this one and it turned out to be just about the last one before they all started stripping every feature they could think of.
For evolution to fix a problem that problem has to kill off everyone that isn’t immune to it before they can breed. If that doesn’t happen people with shitty teeth just keep getting born even if some have a mutation to regrow them.
When I press the winkey and search (which is the most efficient way to search the start menu) I get web search shit in the results. This is not desirable.
Damn, one more reason to add to the list of why I can’t replace my LG V20…
