I am very happy that I managed to get two 20TB discs before the crazy, now I’m just sad that I didn’t get two more for the backup server.

They use everything for everything, that’s the big issue. Also gpl code. Anything they can trawl through they use. And replicate, in part or in full.

If you don’t want arrogant developers being involved in your software you might as well move to a cottage in the woods and forsake modern society. Actually, that might be a good idea either way.

Ip addresses. Netbird uses the same ip when external, while tailscale has a different internal one. So I need to reconfigure the home assistant client differently for each.

I tried moving from tailscale to netbird, and while I did get access to my home assistant instance, I got unauthorized errors when trying to load mini graph cards on my dashboard. Instead of tinkering I went back to tailscale - at least for now.

Sorry, the Nvidia Shield. It’s super old, but still best in class.

Kodi running on an (old) Nvidia Shield Pro, reading from a NAS via dlnr. This works nicely and I don’t get any quality degradation… Except for HDR+ which the shield doesn’t support and I was stupid and bought a Samsung TV, which is bad for numerous reasons, but also this one.

And of course, we are now closing in on the decade since it was released, and still no viable replacement.

Running home assistant with a few addons on a mostly dormant raspberry pi. This totals to 19 lines.

I would love to move away from Google. However, Danish security apps require Google Play for security verification so it isn’t viable to move away from mainstream Android and Google Play - unless it’s to Apple, which is hardly better.

Note that immich go doesn’t need you to extract the zip files. Also, you can set each file to 50GB making everything a lot easier.

Maybe you could use the immich face recognition to delete after import?

I have that. I just got hue first, so all my lamps (or at least the old ones) are registered in hue. I haven’t taken the time to move all of it over, so now I have two competing networks.

Just got some power measuring plugs. Home Assistant and immich-running raspberry pi + NAS (dual 20TB in raid 1) + switch clock in at around 30W. Surround receiver playing music ups that by 90W. After a minor water leak I added 5 leak sensors to the system that will blink lights and send texts if they detect anything.

The biggest problem is that I’m still running lights through hue and some of them have an annoying tendency to drop off the network…

I suspect my first Linux ran on an 80mhz AMD K6. I did however also run it on a retired dual core UltraSPARC some years later I had somehow gotten my hands on. It might have been faster, but at that time it sure felt slow. And it sounded like a train passing through when it was on. In retrospect installing Gentoo on it was an optimistic endeavour.

I like dark mode and tabs. Now I actually use it a lot more. I don’t like adding a gibberish generator…

USA buys too much from China compared to how much they export. Restricts exports to China. Truly genius!

I have an almost Infinite amount of pictures of my kid. This might be the only use of these features, but I love being able to take good pictures at all times and getting reminders from previous years.

My old Samsung phone could output to two Bluetooth devices at the same time, but it wasn’t exactly synchronized. I don’t think Bluetooth is good at getting the timing just right.
