Android@lemmy.world•Those of you who install non-google-play apps (aka: sideloading), what's your gameplan for the upcoming Google restrictions on Sideloading?English
7·2 months agoI am hoping, that I can switch to a Fairphone with a custom ROM til next year. If I can’t get the money for it until then, I Am just hoping that it will be implemented through an android Update, because in that case it won’t affect me, since I Am already stuck on Android 11 or so.

Linux@programming.dev•Linux has over 6% of the desktop market? Yes, you read that right - here's how
11·4 months agoWell yes, but no. The older generations (millenials) do this but Gen-Z does not really knowhow to use a computer and often enough doesn’t want to use one. This problem will probably become even worse with the even younger generations.

2·4 months agoDo you use different harddrives for your partitions? Because that might be the reason you dont have that much problems. From what I heard windows likes to wipe all boot entries that aren’t windows and are located on the same drive.
Nowadays its also quite common to design speeches around short form videos, so that you can then edit as much as possible into short little segments that are optimised for short form content. The right wingers do it a lot and, at least in Germany, our leftist party realised that this is a strategy to not miss out on.

151·11 months agoThe Idea to use AI to detect possible copyright infringements isnt even that bad. Its gets bad when you trust the AI to be able to tell things apart. If the alerts from the AI aren’t reviewed by humans it is doomed to fail.

Games@lemmy.world•Blizzard is delisting the OG Warcrafts from GOG, but GOG says it's gonna preserve them forever anyway, hands out a discount, and announces new policy for its preservation program to bootEnglish
10·11 months agoThere are differences with buisness models. Steam sells a license to use a software. This license can be revoked. GOG sells you a copy that you can download and run any time later without needing it. They can’t take that away from you.

4·11 months agoFor normal Factorio i would not absolutely agree, but for space age this is absolutely true. It takes a lot from you when you already know how to get started on the new planets.

Games@lemmy.world•What are your favorite "gotta go in blind" games?English
71·11 months agoThe warframe lore is pretty complex, but its also great. Especially the way the game tells you the story. Can only recommend going into it blind.

Games@lemmy.world•What are your favorite 1000+ hour games?English
3·1 year agoI am Not even close to 1000h but devinetively Factorio. Be aware, this game is a massive time sink and makes you play for way longer than you want. Especially with the new expansion you can spend enormous amounts of time in this game.
Factorio is great. I don’t think Theres another game that sucked up so many hours so quick. I absolutely love it. It takes a shit load of time(my first world took 40 hours and didnt complete the game). I’m now starting a new world because of space age, and already have a lot of plans on how to improve my world to male it better(starting with currently building a blueprint for a mall and rushing to robots in order to not being forced to build everything by hand). Also, disabling biters is a very good thing to do. I don’t want to focus on fighting biters. I just want to see the factory grow.

Games@lemmy.world•I'm tired of every game being live serviceEnglish
4·1 year agoFor Factorio, yes. The expansion costs about the same as the normal game, but it adds insane amounts of content for the game. You can travel to other worlds, build entirely new factories and we even get nuclear fusion. Factorio space age is AFAIK absolutely worth the price.

1·1 year agoYeah, but we have seen a lot of examples where it was clearly a lack of time. An example would be the Gollum game. It had some very good concepts(making decisions between both of his personalities), but it didnt had any impact. This seems like something where if they had more time they could have formed this into a very good game mechanic.

3·1 year agoBut this game is tied to fitness and also has competitive elements to it. Imagine you can buy yourself faster progress here, when it’s all tied to physical activity. It would completely ruin the game and any competitive aspects in it
Okay, you got a point there. Can’t argue against this.
