No. It’s impossible to sell a game DRM-free on Steam. They always require a connection to Valve’s servers to install, regardless of what the publisher wants. GOG lets you download the installer as a file that you can use wherever or whenever you want.

Sony didn’t own him, Universal did. After the original trilogy and first racing game the series’ original developers (Naughty Dog) left to work on Jak and Daxter and Universal farmed the property out to other developers during the PS2 days. The games weren’t very good and sales declined so eventually they just stopped making them.

More recently they put out a remake of the original trilogy and a new sequel that did alright, but I guess not well enough to keep milking the franchise.

I left when they dropped Gnome 2 for Unity. I’ve been using Mint (with Cinnamon) ever since.

When I’m finished with my current game (a 2D platform-adventure game made in Godot) I’m thinking of prototyping my next game in Luanti. It’ll let me experiment with ideas for a large, open-world game without needing to implement my own world-generation system and, since everything is block-based and the expected graphical fidelity is low, it’ll make creating the content a lot easier.
