2·2 years agoOk. Pretend you are my father. I am your son. You are teaching me how to work the Nostalgia factory, and you have already taught me about the production maintenance and cost of the job. Now the next item on the checklist is what to do in case of emergency and specifically how to stop the production of cargo.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•When the Steam Deck was still just an idea, Valve says some staff were like, "I just want that for me" and "the point wasn't even to make a product out of it"
2·2 years agoOld games from archive.org always seem more fun than newer games. Doom is SO FUN and it was made in 1993!
lol it happens
So, self hosting is complicated. Everyone in this comment section has had tons of experience with it. I tried Plex, failed. Jellyfin, didn’t connect. Entire OSes on a raspberry pi, didn’t work.
I don’t know your situation but for me giving up and just keeping it stored on my phone and manually updating is good enough.

1: yeah search sucks sometimes, wish they’d fix it.
2: you can block people, you just have to select the lower … icon

3: it says ‘primary mail’ for me, but it is kinda annoying sometimes
4: are you talking about how it shortens ‘[email protected]’ to just ‘Steam’? because on a phone there isn’t much horizontal room and they have a verified system for businesses but I can kinda see what you mean
5: It marked read nearly instantly for me. If it can load the text then it’ll mark as read which only takes like half a second for me.

11·2 years agoalso bedrock ray tracing isn’t even made for actual play, it’s only made for a few specially designed maps. people found how to move a folder from the map worlds file into a location in a normal world folder to make the world have RTX.
(most of) the shaders on Iris are MADE to play with so you won’t encounter as many issues.

Linux@lemmy.world•What software setup do you use for playing music?English
1·2 years agoI use Spotify for most of my music, but seeing how we’re on the Linux sub, I use “Strawberry” to play music on my steamdeck in game mode. It works well enough to play music on my desk while I do HW or something.
(I am also looking for a way to have videos in SD game mode if you have any ;) )

I don’t understand why people want immutable. I don’t know all that much about Linux but on my Steamdeck it keeps getting in the way anytime I try to do anything
