This might seem unusual, but some weird people out there hate corporations for what they actually do and not because hating corporations is their fashion statement.

Are you talking about “Tak and the Power of Juju”? I only know Tak as a boardgame from the Kingkiller Chronicle, which didn’t match your complaints :D

Linux@programming.dev•Surge in Systemd forks after the latest changes
0·1 month agoExcept that this change doesn’t lock us into age verification at all. On its own it’s harmless. There are still steps ahead before it’s actually difficult to evade. And sure, we are heading that way and it only makes sense to be prepared for the steps towards the next steps of age verification laws. It really isn’t magic to comply with these small steps, as long as they themselves don’t present a treat, be aware of the bigger picture and still do the work to prevent the actual OS-level age verification.

1·2 months agoBy the way, if your game descriptions, dev-logs and especially the game itself uses AI text generation, I’d also add that information.
Personally I don’t mind it for these conversations, if the reason is a language barrier. But if you are capable of basic English, I’d recommend to try writing everything by yourself and only use AI or simply a dictionary for specific words/expressions. Not only do you learn more this way, but you are also more in control of expressing yourself.

1·2 months agoThanks for adding that note to the description! Just for clarity: If somewhere in the future you are able to work with an artist, would you re-work the art for this game? And can we expect a Linux release?
Other than that, I had the wish for this kind of game for some time and I’m glad something like that exists now. Given the circumstances, I still don’t see myself in the target audience, but good luck on your journey!
Ugh…not gonna watch it anyway, but I hate it in general when a content creator with the stereotypical Linux user characteristics (nerdy, tech-savvy), but without the more important requirements (patient, willing to learn, adaptable) produces this kind of content.

Linux@programming.dev•Steam hardware survey for February 2026. What happened? Why did it lose such a big percentage?
4·2 months agoFrom what I’ve seen, casual users didn’t have problems with the casual tasks in the terminal, but with some hot mess behavior of CachyOS, e.g. how the Python update was handled.

Linux@programming.dev•Steam hardware survey for February 2026. What happened? Why did it lose such a big percentage?
3·2 months agoA little bit off-topic, but I don’t know if I’m too dumb to understand the survey results’ presentation or if there is something wrong.
- Why is SteamOS Holo excluded in the Linux list when the table is unfiltered, while in the “Linux only” filtered table it seems to be the most popular OS with 23.83%?
- For the Arch-based distros, e.g. Steam OS Holo (+23.83%) or Arch Linux (+9.07%), the “change” is exactly the value of the current “percentage”, so the percentage of the compared value is 0. So I guess they have new entries in the data without the history of the old entries? Is there any explanation for that?
Am I missing something? And does it even say anywhere how many people were asked and participated in the survey?
Let’s go, another chapter of letting a small amount of AAA games dictate our perception of video game prices.

Linux@programming.dev•What's the Windows Movie Maker equivalent for Linux?
4·2 months agoYou may want to look into Avidemux as it’s trying to be a simple video editor. But it may too basic and I’m not certain, if it will be intuitive to you.
I only used Window Movie Maker in the 2010s, maybe it used to be better before. But in my experience it was much more cumbersome. I think it was intuitive in the sense that it mostly worked like Microsoft (Office) software, but other than that it still did require some learning effort.

Linux@programming.dev•How to stop Wayland from broadcasting my selected text?
5·3 months agoWhat is the application and did you notice similar behavior outside of it, e.g. being able to paste the currently selected text? I would also check your clipboard manager’s configuration. Clipboards (usually) have a clipboard buffer (for CTRL + C -> CTRL + V) and a primary buffer (for selected text -> mouse middle button paste). Some problems arise from the confusing default settings of some clipboard managers, e.g. the synchronization of both buffers.

I hate them for downplaying the problems of their loot-boxes and for not willing to take any measure against it.
I do not hate them for taking a massive slice out of developers’ paychecks. A developer must make the choice whether the benefits of Steam are worth that slice or not.
And uh…I do not feel overwhelmingly happy, when a game on my wish-list is on sale. But I do not hate it…If people buy a game they didn’t want…out of fear of missing out on a sale…then, sorry, but they need to get their shit together and take active efforts to have more control over their money.
