I thought I remember a blog post by them explaining how it’s impossible to catch up with Google results due to the control they have and money involved, so they have their own indexing service that also pulls from others that they pay for access to (other than Google).
I may be wrong but that’s how I’ve understood Kagi’s results as I’ve used it for the last 2 years…

Does Joplin really take a long time to start up compared to the rest? I just got it downloaded and synced with my server yesterday and so far it opens up almost instantly every time.
In my experience with Mealie, most sites work, but I think some don’t allow scraping or something because every once in awhile we can’t import a recipe.
Alternatively they have a built in AI that can scan an image, so if you feed it a screenshot of a recipe it’ll likely get it in there (may need to double check stuff though)
I’ve heard of performance problems trying to produce in a VM so haven’t tried that, but if you try it and it works let me know because I’d love to stop dual booting.
I’ve tried getting FL Studio to work multiple times but keep running into little issues. Tried Bitwig but can’t get the workflow down since it’s too different from FL. Unfortunately the best way for me is to dual boot since I don’t want to spend time fixing broken settings when I want to produce. Sadly it’s the only thing keeping Windows on my PC.
There is no way open source software could possibly keep up with Google Maps unless it’s community-backed by a lot of people. Sure, in a 1 on 1 competition, the one with a billion dollars has an advantage, but in a 10,000 to 1 competition, things start looking a little more even.
That being said, it would be a better use of your energy to take the 5 minutes to add the facility in Open Street Maps rather than complain online about it. Maybe it would help 5 or 10 others with similar issues, and you can feel good about making a community contribution.
