Games@lemmy.world•New York sues Valve for enabling "illegal gambling" with loot boxesEnglish
51·7 days agoKinda lazy for New York to do this.
When there are countless gaming companies that are more cutthroat about it.
Already have it on Steam, not interested in getting yet another version of this game from the pile.
You’d have to wait for years for that to happen.

Games@lemmy.world•Why are we not getting stress relief games where we take our stresses out on normal people?English
3·13 days agoIf anything, Josh showcases to us that the games he breaks or gets creatively chaotic in, are games we should avoid. Some of them anyways, like a lot of those awful simulator-based games. I don’t know why anyone in the world would think we would need simulator-based games on already menial IRL work. I would just get PTSD if I was forced to play those games like they expect me to.

23·17 days agoData is a two way street. While we have data about the claims against violent video games causing violence, we also have data that contradicts the statement that venting aggression breeds further aggression.
You’re not going to come to me with this bullshit without any sources to cite your claims, then turn around and tell me to actually work on my shit.
You can fuck off. I think dumbasses like you, are also what contributes to making people violent, is knowing how utterly stupid people like you are.

Games@lemmy.world•Saying that hardware price increase is good cause it forces the devs to optimize is not as good as it seems.English
52·17 days agoIt’s not just an AI problem.
You’ve pointed out the scalpers and speculators of the market. Are we going to do anything about them? No? It’s all just AI, right?
What good is it for the developers when they’re whipped by companies with unrealistic demands and people who’re strained from paying top-dollar for the games? It’s all just AI!
It’s a multi-pronged issue.

Games@lemmy.world•Video game romances need to evolve beyond lore dumpsEnglish
81·17 days agoThey also need to stop placating to people’s sexual desires. It’s been breeding people into believing sex is the penultimate goal of relationships and romance in general.

25·17 days agoSo now you’re just assuming everyone is a psychopath. Great. Wonderful.
Look, the best way to circumvent in handling stress is if there is people to help others differentiate reality and fantasy, teach them what right or wrong is. It all falls apart when someone does not get any of those things and they take their undisciplined and wild way of handling issues in wrong manners.
Normal people can tell a difference that ripping paper - it’s OKAY. Ripping people - NOT OKAY. Ripping virtual people that won’t criminalize you - it’s OKAY. Murdering actual people in real time - NOT OKAY.
You’re just not fun, dude. If you keep denying people outlets of their stress and basically just telling them to take it up the ass dry and do things that actually wouldn’t lower their stress levels, then you’re fueling the problem in ways you’re not fully understanding.
The fucking Yoga-like way in handling stress isn’t the answer to everything either.

Games@lemmy.world•‘This shouldn’t be normal’: developers speak out about bigotry on Steam, the world’s biggest PC gaming storefrontEnglish
21·17 days agoIf Valve so badly doesn’t want to be responsible for moderating things on their own platform, then yes, they should be giving tools to the players to better self-moderate.
I’m envisioning it right now. The idea where someone sees a review of a game, negative or positive, adding nothing to what decision someone could have before buying a game. They can just close that review out and they’d never see it. It’d automatically block the person too, why not, their input isn’t valuable.
I didn’t know they got rid of the jester award until I checked today. I kinda wish we could just delete the awards such as them from our reviews that got flagged with those shitty things. I’d also take away the ‘funny’ marker too because I feel it adds nothing to reviewing games, it only enables the trolls and other shitty people from abusing it.

Games@lemmy.world•Why are we not getting stress relief games where we take our stresses out on normal people?English
916·17 days agoNo, going to disagree here.
We’ve had this discussion many times over about what violent video games does with people. We’ve had it in the form of what the media decides to twist and falsely blame from the actions the individual does when there are other things at play.
Broken people are the ones who take the violence out from the digital realm of video games and apply it to real world. They are the ones who can’t manage their stress and anger levels regardless playing a game or handling a problem in person.

3·17 days agoYeah but what good is reporting when Valve themselves takes what feels like an eternity, getting down to dealing with just a few?
Eventually, they’re going to be faced with making one of two choices; Shut down the discussions board to a particular game for violating ToS or let it go unchecked for however long.

3·17 days agoReviewing generally anything should be a way to help beacon those who’re unsure as to whether or not they should bother spending their hard-earned money on something and time they’re not getting back.
They aren’t going to get anything out of XxNoLife42069xX’s “review” of a game when they splerg about things not related to the game.

21·18 days agoPeople are allowed to engage in discussion about the games they play and deserve to do so without being hampered by shitlords. Easy idea.
No, I don’t think anybody is asking for yet another RE1 remake. Because then that’ll just start everything alllll over again. Next 10+ years, RE2 will have a remake. Then RE3. Then another 20 years until we get RE4 remade.
Like, no. I prefer the series continuing forward with newer entries than just revisiting things, especially if they’ve been remade twice over.
