It’s about the journey, not the destination, and the journey has plenty of twists and turns. You may know the start, you may know the end, I promise you do not know how you get there.

Is the Lord of the Rings bad because you know they’re going to destroy the ring in Mount Doom and defeat Sauron by the end?

I won’t say it’s absolutely the game for everyone, but I really don’t think you’d be as disappointed as you’re expecting. Personally, I was VERY invested in the characters by the end.

Have you played Sea of Stars? Absolutely, drop dead GORGEOUS pixel game with phenomenal music. Its not the hardest game, but it is a true love letter to old school JRPGs. One of those games that sticks with you long after you’ve beaten it.

It’s on Game Pass if you have it, otherwise you can grab it on Steam. It’s worth every penny.

  • On your point 3 there was a 1 time issue back in 2020 about redirect links from 1 specific site (binance.us). I know a lot of companies claim malicious things were a bug, but considering it only happened once, was restricted to one site, was fixed almost immediately after it was discovered, and had to do with auto fill settings in the address bar from people who had already used brave’s affiliate links; it really does seem more like a bug. Why do you insinuate that they “keep” doing something when there is only this one instance?

Also no where in that link does it mention “selling user data” so that part seems to have come straight from you ass.

I’d address the other points and why they are pretty much meaningless when you dig into the actual stories, but I dont have the time, and trying to explain the reality of brave to Lemmy users is like trying to explain to a dog why they can’t just eat all the food all the time.

But I did want to specifically call out point 3 because you literally just made shit up and a primal part of my brain can not stand dirty fucking liars who lie because they don’t have any actual arguments.

  • Honestly, it was my favorite SW game I ever played. Yes, better even than KotR. I felt like I was IN the Star wars universe. Not as a mystical space wizard, but just like… A person. And I loved every second of it. The world felt so alive, especially the cities. There were so many small elements that didn’t need to be there but I appreciated nonetheless, like the street food mini game. Did I need a weird QuickTime event mini game to eat food? No. Did I enjoy the fact that you would get served a big dish of alien cuisine and then actually get to see your character eat it? Like bite-by-bite and could watch it disappear with incredible detail? Sure! There’s a lot of points like that where you can see a lot of love and passion for the game shine through.

It makes me so sad to hear how poorly received the game was. Coming on the heels of Andor, it felt like it was supposed to be a big push in trying to move the SW franchise away from the constant Jedi/Sith space wizard conflict and focus more on the universe itself. Hell, even the rebellion/empire conflict took a back seat in favor of exploring the criminal underworld. I would LOVE more of that (and yes I know about the Maul show and have been enjoying it, but it too leans heavy on the space wizards).

  • If you’ve played, well, pretty much any RPG, there’s no point playing Zelda or Pokemon.

Oh, there’s a point, and it’s a pretty big one that people tend to forget:

Games like Zelda and Pokemon are fun. They might not have the best graphics, but they’re fun. They may not have the best story, but they are fun. The hardware may not be powerful, the gameplay might be repetitive, the scenery might be bland, the NPC’s might not be engaging, it may not be particularly challenging, it may have questionable design choices; but the games are fun to play.

I feel that as gamers get older they forget that, at its core, games are supposed to be fun. They look at Nintendo and then at other big companies and go “what the hell? Nintendo looks like CRAP! Every other AAA company has WAY more impressive games!” without realizing that Nintendo isn’t really trying to make impressive games. They make fun games that are fun to play. Games anyone can start having fun with less than a minute after picking up the controller.

  • Unfortunately there’s not one source, I used multiple guides and videos, and started over multiple times. This video was maybe the most helpful, but he doesn’t cover everything. You have to do some hunting on where to find the product keys for each system that needs them, and some systems require some extra steps to get working.

The only system I can’t seem to get running at all is Sega Saturn for some reason. The PS2 emulator needed some extra fiddling with the graphical settings on some games. The WiiU needed a lot of extra steps to get working, both in the set up and in the settings. And for the switch, I managed to get the Eden emulator working, but don’t ask how I did that. I tried a couple times with no success until one time it magically showed up as an option. I also havent tried emulating any XBox games because most of them are available on other systems, but I might try getting the 360 working soon.

I think the biggest thing that tripped me up is that the bios/keys files don’t typically go in their respective folders (with some exceptions like the WiiU), instead they all just get dumped directly in the Emulation\bios folder together. A lot of guides I found were giving the wrong directions for that.

Just keep at it; if I can figure it out, I am certain you can too!

  • rather than any other hex game

Well, the first thing you should know is that C&C is NOT a hex game. So if you make hexagonal terrain, whoever is wanting the cake is going to be really confused.

That’s like making a Halo themed cake and asking is there anything you need to make it obvious other than zombies.

  • I really liked the first 80% of Firewatch. The last 20% though… I guess I didn’t hate it, but I also really didn’t like the switch in tone. Without giving spoilers, the ending left me feeling kind of disappointed with how normal it was. I remember finishing the game and immediately going to look if there was an alternative ending, because certainly the game wouldn’t just end like… That.

Like, imagine working on a big murder mystery where a man was found dead inside a locked room with no windows. You gather tons of clues, interview countless people searching for a motive, spend a lot of time putting together all the pieces and… It turns out he simply tripped and hit his head.

Like, there’s still a mystery. There’s still a good story. It’s not even a really bad ending, it’s just not nearly as exciting as where you thought it would lead.
