Because aaa developers are in the business of the business of making games. As in financing, shuffling money, stock appreciation, selling assets at opportune times, etc… They are no longer interested in making games, they’re trying to make infinite money through an established ecosystem.
Eh, it’s just not worth the effort to get a tablet that will still run poorly even after poring over half deleted xda threads. Were there any chance that the original surface running another OS could be useful, I’d do it. But it’d be a poor experience no matter what, based on what I’ve read.
And it seems like android sucks on there as well. Damn.
You’re describing a sturdy tablet running Linux. Speaking of which, I just remembered the worst gift I have ever been given, a gen1 windows surface! The sack of shit couldn’t even run windows, the OS it was designed for, without freezing. Gonna see if I can dig it out and swap the OS!
Used enterprise minis are dirt cheap. The only downside is that they guzzle electricity compared to a low spec pi, but they can do much more, so don’t be afraid to give them additional tasks.
Kids really need to be introduced to Linux earlier. None of this iPad baby shit.
Their mini pcs seem like something I’d like to revisit. Pretty rebuildable and, seemingly, a common enterprise choice. Parts will always be around for something like that
It was a Lenovo minipc with an Amazon customized bios that wouldn’t offer boot options. I found some guides to get around it, but they were well beyond my capacity, so it’s been returned. Ended up getting an older used hp elitebook off of eBay. Cracked plastic on the corners knocked it down to less than $100 with some careful sniping, but it’s plenty for me to fiddle with. No complaints so far.
Even if they are bugs, this kingdom is ridiculously huge. I find it hard to believe that there are so many places that we never found in hollow knight, also an absolutely sprawling game.
Didn’t see this, I went with mate to start for precisely for that reason. It’s a low spec machine, so I first tried out xfce and mate. I just didn’t love the icons, menu, and general theme on xfce, and the performance hit was utterly negligible, so I went with mate. Still no regrets, though I’m having trouble figuring out some connectivity issues.
I understand why they did it, but scraping a website that freely offers nearly the entirety of its data via federation is a dick move
I went with mint’s look to start, then I’ll transition to something more conducive to my actual workflow as I relearn commands. Frankly, I’m just happy that I can find all of my relevant settings in one place again. As god intended.
You got me pretty excited for a minute, but unfortunately this model doesn’t have one. I really appreciate the help, though. I have only a few more keys to try, before I loop back to the beginning with a fresher arm
Frankly, I wouldn’t even know where to begin to return it. I guess I’ll shoot them an email with the model and pics and send it back to them if they request it. As with the drive’s contents, I expect nothing
I wish it were so short. It’s about a minute per boot, and I have never mashed this hard or long in my life. Still worth
I appreciate that. This is definitely going to be a long learning process for me, but the boundless optimism here, and my malignant hatred for windows, will hopefully keep me going
That’s a significantly more interesting story than my start (and long stall). “What’s a tracking cookie?” I asked webcrawler. And then my personality became open source freeware for 6 years.
But if you think that there might be anything of interest, I’ll definitely check it out. Others mentioned that it’s likely a distro of red hat so I’ll see if I can somehow dump or sync it to a flash drive. Unfortunately, I don’t have any spare ssds to swap, and while I’d love to sync the OS to a drive, my priority is definitely to get the flip off of windows already.
I personally prefer using a browser, so it’s to my preference. Though I don’t like gog’s interface much.
