It’s almost plug&play for you then. The only thing besides following the wiki that’s already mentioned is to look up AMD specific Proton launch arguments like forcing games to use FSR4.
How do you do, fellow kids? You gettin’ indoctrinated on the world wide web? Radical!

Come on down to your local Burger Baron restaurant, rated the #1 pizza in Onoway, BC! First established in Edmonton, Alberta…is one claim amongst many!

Yep. The hill my new console owning habits died on was any corp pushing paying to play online subscriptions and I stuck to that. I’ll buy used later if there’s exclusives I want and I can’t just emulate it like Switch 1.

SMB mount via fstab, hadn’t heard of AutoFS. That’s usually how it goes, I learn about something better after going through the pain of doing it an inferior way.

Yeah, it’s usually quality of life misses. An example: if I mount a network drive (mine auto-mounts upon login) and then that NAS goes down for whatever reason, if I open Dolphin it’ll hang trying to connect to the offline network drive and never timeout. I can restart my NAS and then as soon as it’s online again, my file manager will open 😅.
I’d have to manually unmount in terminal if that NAS became non-functional. Windows just times out and marks it as offline so File Explorer still works.
I’m not a series fan myself. I like GTA 3 and 4 the most and it’s entirely down to tech novelty and in the context of my age at the time. I was 11 when 3 came out and 18 when 4 came out.
4 was my favourite at the time because of the game engine and car physics. 5 disappointed me because they neutered the cars and I didn’t like the character hopping bank heist story that kept taking all my money away for story related reasons.
I’ve tried replaying 4 recently and got bored DNF’d so yeah idk if it holds up especially well.
Cut to present day and we got Rockstar who is a giga rich anti union corporation making a satire game about a country in which satire is dead. In a series they’ve not added a new game to since the PS3 generation because multiplayer became the golden goose. I don’t have the highest hopes.

Lazy! CachyOS sets up system snapshots and I could one click install gaming related packages. It’s not much really, I could install regular Arch instead but meh.

I think the AUR isn’t possible to keep using as-is so hopefully they come up with some sort of vetting process. Invite system like a private torrent tracker? Idk really.
I try not to use AUR. A few exceptions being the actual program developer maintaining the AUR repo and recommending that method for Arch users on their github page or whatever.

If there’s one thing FOSS folks love it’s recursive acronyms 😅

Since the CheatEngine dev is an asshole, there’s an alternative I use instead:

Probably not exactly matching in feature parity but tbh I only use it to edit RAM values to get around MTX currencies or bad game design choices like Wreckfest locking all vehicles/parts behind a boring as sin uninspired single player grind when I only cared about multiplayer shenanigans.

I never subbed even after using free trials because all of these subscription services follow the same capitalist shareholder corporate path, doesn’t matter what it’s for.
Initially cheap, good “value” and designed to be habit forming to retain their userbase. Operate at a loss. Then they jack the price up every year once they hit a magic number userbase goal and start cutting costs at the same time. Quality drops, price goes up.

These are also available on KDE when you click the get more button or whatever it’s called (I’m not at home) in System Settings.
A preview of a few but open the website, they’re animated. Plus there’s multiple styles and dark modes.

No problem. There’s also another handy tool here:

You can spoof DLSS support and actually use FSR4 instead with games that don’t officially support FSR, quite handy.
Otherwise AFAIK the Proton command “PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE=1” will only upgrade games officially supporting older versions of FSR.
