In the few years of me exclusively using the command line to manage files, even having rm aliased to rm -rf, and at some point to sudo rm -rf, out of convenience, I think it has happened thrice that I deleted the wrong file, and twice I was able to restore it with (hourly) backups. The third time, it was a minecraft world which I had created to test some mods and the server start script, and I had excluded it from backups because my ~/games dir is usually only used by steam.

Maybe most smaller ones have hosted both things separately, e.g… with a dedicated minecraft server hoster and a common website-building+hosting service, and don’t want to run an extra server for a proxy just for this.
With bigger servers (eg. Hypixel, 2b2t) or selfhosted servers (eg. mine), everything is on the same physical (or virtual) machine anyway and therefore everything has the same address, so you wouldn’t even need a proxy.
I do, except I always used du -hs *, which does not include hidden (.-Prefixed) files. So a double trap.

99% of captive portals are either just a dummy page, require a single button press or a checkmark to be set. At least here in Germany. The only times I had to enter any data were in Switzerland.

I use rsync to incrementally back up / to a separate drive, as well as a drive on another device (my server), which then packs, compresses and encrypts the latest backup of all devices daily, and uploads them to Hetzner as well as GDrive.
Maybe not the best, but good and compliant to the desktop variant: K-9 Mail, now rebranded to Thunderbird Android
That’s bad luck then, friends and I had the opposite experience, with OrganicMaps routing around a road closure where google maps didn’t acknowledge it.
The only thing where google maps is superior is the reviews. In all other points OSM is more detailed and often more up to date. Especially due to nerds like us, that while waiting for the radicalistic-left club to open, explore a mislabeled playground, fix that, and continue to complete streets for OSM with one dude’s phone that can measure distances.
However, google maps does have a lot of data too. Except the app, as all google apps, has literally no useful settings and is awful to use in many aspects.
And for FOSS apps that give traffic data: There are none that I’m aware of. There are, however, alternative, crowd sourced apps/websites for germany, like Blitzer.de, that not only show speed cams but also traffic data. Not ideal, but better.
Google Apps are ALWAYS much worse than FOSS alternatives.
