Following Verizon, Spectrum Mobile and Xfinity Mobile are adding satellite messaging on Google Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25 devices.
And idea about what the messaging rates will be for satellite texting? I wonder if it’ll work with GrapheneOS too
The GrapheneOS forums say there is no intent on implementing this. It will probably be locked behind Google play services anyway.
Is this a kind of emergency messaging thing being added or is this the direction we will go instead of 6G? Lol! I’m half joking because idk anything tbh.
Emergency mostly. I would imagine in the future though it will be satellite only and towers will be obsolete
What satellite service does this go through, I wonder?
Edit: duh, it’s right there 🤦♂️
From the article: Spectrum Mobile and Xfinity Mobile, have launched satellite-based services through a collaboration with Skylo, a non-terrestrial network (NTN) service provider.
