You can. It is in fact possible to play Minecraft without any code from Microsoft, as there are alternative implementations for both the frontend and the server. You can’t play on regular servers that way, though.

The only thing you need a Microsoft account for is to play Minecraft. And use other Microsoft products and services that Microsoft keeps pushing their terrible account system on.

I did recommend Mint (although I use EndeavourOS myself), but he’s not interested anymore.

It probably didn’t help that I recently recommended him to buy Nvidia rather than AMD for a recent upgrade, because Nvidia had lower power requirements, and I don’t his his PSU would have been able to handle the comparable AMD.

My son also picked Bazzite, which I hadn’t heard of before. Unfortunately he didn’t like it and it back to Windows again.

I don’t think any CRPG is RP heavy. I don’t think it’s possible for a computer game to roleplay. Well, maybe if they integrate LLMs? But generally, any RP happens entirely in the player’s head.

I think CRPGs that are sometimes seen as RP heavy, are just very well written. That’s not the same thing, although I suppose it’s possible for good writing to inspire RP in the player. But that depends as much on the player as it depends on the writing.

I enjoyed the original VTMB a lot, mostly because of its excellent atmosphere.
