Honestly, I’m not really sure if anyone can help you here. Sounds like you’re already quite experienced with linux and know what you’re looking for and what you need.

Most people seeing your requirements would probably say Fedora, as it’s pretty up to date but still stable. I might recommend debian testing if you want slightly more cutting edge.

Frankly, I think you know best what you need and you should see what fits you :)

I mean… I would consider Omarchy to be a “real distro”, but nonetheless not one I would ever use. It did start out as just a config… but atp if you don’t call it a distro then like 60% of “distros” also wouldn’t be that, Archcraft or Artix for example.

really? usually KDE based distros have it preinstalled, in Kubuntu for example there’s literally an app called “system services” or “background services” where you can do this. but i’m glad you figured it out
